Part 1: What Plants Do I Need?
First things first: make sure that you get most, if not all of the plants in the game, including the pink ones (twin sunflower, etc). You can buy them all at Crazy Dave's shop. It would be better to have 10 slots as well. Here are the plants you will need:
- Sunflower
- Cherry Bomb
- Potato Mine
- Fume Shroom
- Lily Pad
- Squash
- Jalapeno
- Spikeweed
- Blover
- Pumpkin
- Magnet Shroom
- Kernel Pult
- Coffee Bean
- Umbrella Leaf
- Melon-Pult
- Twin Sunflower
- Gloom-shroom
- Cattail
- Winter Melon
- Gold Magnet
- Spikerock
- Cob Cannon
- Imitater
Part 2: Sneak Peek
Here is the final plant arrangement:
Explanation:
- 8 cob cannons to enable continuous attack.
- Umbrella leaf on far left to protect against catapults and bungee zombies. Umbrella leaf near center to protect against bungee zombies.
- Winter melons to slow enemies.
- Gloom shrooms to the left to kill digger zombies and imps, gloom shrooms in the pool to kill all kinds of water zombies and hit zombies beside the pool.
- Four twin sunflowers to get maximum sun.
- Gold magnets to get coins automatically. You will need this since you'll be spending time launching cob cannons.
- Spikerocks to kill any zombonis that get through, and to delay any giga-gargantuars that get through.
Advantages:
- Immunity from bungee zombies and catapults
- Digger zombies and imps are killed easily
- Low maintenance; sun doesn't get too low
- Quick to set up
- Can survive!
- Jack in the box zombies
- Always keep an eye on the pumpkins!
Part 3: Setting Up
At the start of the game, you would want to get as much sun as possible, and set up the final form. If you get enough sun, the final form would be finished before wave 5.
Wave 1 (flags 1 and 2)
Wave 1 is probably the most important wave in the game! We'd have to get the sunflowers, winter melons, and some kernel-pults set up. Here are the needed plants:
And an explanation:
- Sunflower - of course, to have sun
- Imitater sunflower - we have to get lots of sunflowers! The sunflowers have to span from the left all the way up to 2 or 3 blocks from the right.
- Twin sunflower - for increased sun
- Melon and winter melon - place these in their final positions already.
- Lily pad - yes, place sunflowers here as well. Also kernel-pults.
- Cattail - early game only, get rid of these before wave 10.
- Kernel-pult - place these in the final positions already.
- Potato mine - use for the first 2 or 3 zombies.
- Squash - a backup for potato mine, useful on bucket head zombies in water.
- A lot of sunflowers! Around 4, or until the first zombie appears
- Potato mine for the first zombie threat (if you don't have the rake)
- More sunflowers! When you reach 8 sunflowers, place the twin sunflower. If you can place it in the final position, good. If not, just place it anywhere.
- Cattail - very important, early game. Build 2 to 3, around the middle of the pool. Place a squash to their right to get rid of bucket head zombies.
- Remember: keep building sunflowers! All the way until 3 blocks from the right.
- Melons, winter melons, and kernel-pults.
I had three cattails, but two were eaten by those zombies that just pop out of the pool suddenly. But there's no need to worry - the build is flexible anyway. On to the second wave!
Wave 2 (flags 3 and 4)
In this wave, we have to finish setting up the kernel-pults, winter melons, and sunflowers. We also have to begin putting the cob cannons and fume-shrooms. The plants I took with me are:
The build order's flexible here; just keep putting working towards the final position as much as your sun allows. Here's what mine looked like after wave 2:
Note:
- Winter melons are complete
- Kernel-pults are complete
- Twin sunflowers are complete
Now it's time to strengthen the defenses. We will bring:
By this time we can already use the cob cannons we planted to kill off large groups of zombies. Here's what mine looked like after wave 3:
Things to note:
- Cob cannons complete
- Gold magnets complete
We can already complete the entire setup in this wave! I brought:
The squash and jalapeno weren't really necessary; I just didn't know what else to bring.
Afterwards:
Save for the pumpkins, the plants are complete! Hurray!
Part 4: Maintenance
What plants do I bring? Here is a typical set-up against giga-gargantuars, jack in the box zombies, and balloon zombies:
Explanation:
- Lily pad, coffee, fume shroom, gloom shroom - jack in the box can destroy these pool plants, so it's good to have replacements.
- Blover - for any balloon zombies that might escape the cob cannons.
- Pumpkin and imitater pumpkin - to replace damaged ones. These are more or less permanent.
- Cherry bomb, squash, jalapeno - for giga-gargantuars.
- Spikeweed and spikerock (if they die because of giga-gargantuar/zomboni flood)
- Kernel-pult and cob cannon (if they get eaten by dancer zombies, which happen sometimes)
Now go and play! =)
Glad I found this article. Really excited to give it a try!
ReplyDeletelol, one blog one post
ReplyDeletebut it is a good step by step description which makes it easy to imitate.
THANKS!!! I finally done it because of this strategy!!
ReplyDeleteNothing to stop balloon zombies.
